Meet the Team

President - Trevor

He We are proud to introduce Ashton Central Swimming Club President Mr Trevor Little. Trevor has been a member of swimming club for over 30 years. He trained as a swimming teacher in 1996 and has been a Committee member and Head Coach before accepting the President role in 2020.

Chairman - Trish

Trish first became involved with Ashton Central in 1992 when her two children joined.
She has held various roles within the club starting as pool chaperone at open competitions, becoming team manager for team and open competitions, and joining the committee in the early 1990’s.
She was a founder member of both the St Helens and Wigan swim development groups liaising with the other clubs within each district.
She has held the position of Chairman for the last 20 years and is the Swimmark coordinator for the club.

Treasurer - Wendy

Wendy first became involved with Ashton Central in 1992 when her two children joined. She became a member of Committee and has held various roles. For the last 20 years she been the club treasurer.

Head Coach - Lisa

Lisa joined Ashton Central at age 10 and have been a member since. She trained with St Helens swim scheme and swam at County level.

She began as a poolside helper at the age of 14. At the age of 16, she completed the Level 1 Assistant Teacher qualification and at 18 completed the Level 2 Teaching course. In 2021. she completed the Level 1 Swimming Coach qualification, followed by Level 2 in 2022.

Presently, she is the Head Swimming Teacher for the Junior section and Head Coach for the Senior section.

Safeguarding - Alaina

Alaina is the clubs safeguarding lead. She is a Committee member and is our representative at the Wigan Best Committee.

Coach - Alan

Alan joined Ashton Central as a swimmer in 1977. He returned when his own children joined in 2007 and commenced on the poolside in 2009. A Level 2 Teacher and a Level 2 Coach, Alan can be seen most Tuesday's on poolside. He also is a Level 1 Judge and officiates at some open galas.

Coach - Dave

Dave joined in 2004 with his children and he stayed on as Coaching staff when his grandchildren joined. He is a Level 2 Teacher in the Junior section.

Coach - Emily

Emily joined in 2007 as a club swimmer and at 14 years became a volunteer. She is now a Level 2 Teacher and a Level 2 Coach and an integral member of our team in both the Junior and the Senior section.
She is also a Committee member holding our Webmaster role.

Coach - Karen

Karen was an Ashton Central Club Swimmer as a child and returned when her own children joined. She has been a Level 2 teacher since 2009 she mainly teaches the Junior section but also covers the other sessions when needed. She often accompanies our swimmers to galas.

Coach - Kelly

Kelly was a swimmer herself with Wigan Swimming Club. She commenced volunteering with us in 2017 when her child joined. Kelly is a Level 2 Teacher and an active member of our team.

Coach - Kirsty

Kirsty was Ashton Central Swimmer as a child. She joined the teaching staff in her teenage years qualifying as a Level 2 Teacher. She was for some time our Team Manager. After a well deserved break and time to be a mum she has returned to our teaching team.

Coach - Marc

Marc swam with Hindley Swimming Club as a child and joined Ashton Central as a volunteer in 2019. Qualified as a Level 2 Teacher in 2024, Marc is an asset to the team. He is also a Committee member and assists with the day to day running of the club.

Coach - Neil

Neil has been volunteering since 2009 when his children joined club. He is a Level 2 Teacher and a Level 1 Coach.
He volunteers on Wednesday's and Thursday's and is an asset to our team
